We Love BIG NEWS: Andrew Gets Engaged!
Happy Monday, everyone! What better way to start the week than with good news, right?
At Paper Style, we spend all day, every day helping people celebrate their lives. We get to hear all about your parties and weddings and birthdays and we love every minute of it. Relishing in all the excitement surrounding celebrations, it always feels extra special for us when one of our own team members has big news!
Last week, Andrew, our Director of Web Content, asked his girlfriend to marry him! Man, do we love a good engagement story...
We sat down to ask Andrew some questions about the engagement, and of course, it was the kind of romantic story that makes us all smile from ear to ear:
TPSB: How long had you been planning before you asked Heather to marry you?
A: I’d been planning the proposal for about 4 months. We had already planned a trip out west to Seattle and then to Montana to visit her family. I knew how special her lake house on Flathead Lake was to her. After much thought, I decided there couldn’t be a better spot to propose.
TPSB: How did you pick the ring? Had you guys been ring shopping together or did you just surprise her with one you picked?
A: Well, after a little while in a relationship – sometimes subtle hints are dropped. And there are sometimes not so subtle hints like “Oh, look, a jewelry counter….” We had a few discussions about ideas, so when I was ready I had something to work with. The hardest part was keeping it a secret, especially when it arrived over a month before our trip!
TPSB: It's early, but are there any details that you both are sure about yet? You mentioned the possibility of a destination wedding?
A: We’re still in the “Let’s enjoy this for a minute” phase, but we intend to start planning in a week or so. The one thing we do know is that we’d like a destination wedding. With our families and friends so spread out (Montana and Georgia, primarily) we figure we should make everyone travel and get a little sand between their toes!
TPSB: How did Heather react when you proposed?
A: She was over the moon! My plans included the one place where she has some of the best memories, and my asking her there added one more Special Memory of many to come! Her smile alone was worth another year of planning.
TPSB: Will you be getting your wedding stationery through Paper Style? (Shameless plug, y'all. Sorry! We're just so excited!)
A: We will definitely be placing an order for Save The Dates and Wedding Invitations as soon as we iron out those important details. Possibly one of the great beach wedding gatefold invitations. We already have a few sets of individual stationery for thank you notes – but I guess I’ll have to update hers with a new name!!!
Ah, the sweet sound of wedding bells on a Monday morning. What could be better? Do you have an extra-special proposal story to share?

The New Year Brings New Designs!
We may only be 9 days in, but we hope 2014 has been treating you well! At PaperStyle, the new year brings new designs for new joy! We've seen a plethora of baby and bridal shower invitations coming through and its always so exciting for us to see our newest designs in action! We've even got some favorites of our own:
Type Stylist, Robyn, & Type Stylist Manager, Susan, both love our Chevron Chalkboard Rainbow Bridal Shower Invitations. Robyn says this design "hits on 2 of [her] favorite hot trends right now.....chevron and chalkboard. The colors are so vibrant and happy! It looks great printed ~ the paper quality is so nice and the colors pop!" And Susan calls this design "fun, modern, snappy and eye-candy appealing!"
Considering how many designs they see in a day, I think it's safe to say they know a good design when they see one...
Director of Operations, Kim, Social Media Coordinator, Aimee, and Web Developer, Shkiha, are big fans of our new Shower The Bride Invitations. They love the “retro” vibe and feel that the flowers and colors are different than most of our other offerings, which makes it quite unique.
Terri, our Purchasing Manager, loves our Pretty Gift On Blue Baby Shower Invitations because of their simplicity and "they say damask is the new trend" (and trust us, Terri's on top of all the trends). Type Stylist Traci also loves that this invitation is "another clean, classic look."
But perhaps one of the most collectively popular of our new invites is our Baby Clothes On Chalkboard Blue Baby Shower Invitations. It's such a classic theme, and so versatile. We carry many variations of the clothesline baby shower invitation, but this one features a chalkboard background (there we go again with the trends!) and banner with great font options!
One of the reasons we love this invitation so much is because the clothesline theme is one that's pretty simple to carry out at the shower itself, and it always looks cute. Ashley, the daughter of our COO, Diane, threw a baby shower this past summer and put up a clothesline on the mantle to carry the theme through:
Come on, how cute are those little tiny clothes?
These are just a few favorites of all of our newest designs. Be sure to check out the rest of our selection at Paper Style to celebrate your new joy, whether it's a wedding, a new baby, a new home, or just a new TV (Super Bowl party, anyone?).
Lots of love for 2014 from The Paper Style Blog!

Paper Stylist Karen is a fan of our Pea In The Pod Yellow Baby Shower Invitations because, she says, "These invitations are perfect for a neutral shower when the gender is not yet revealed! Pea in the pod, a classic theme, never goes out of style!!" These invites are a great choice for mommies-to-be of single or multiples babies! (The card only gets cuter with more peas in the pod, right?)

Tuesday Team Pick {Michael}
Happy Tuesday, y'all! Can you believe it's already October?
This week's Tuesday Team Pick comes straight from one of the most awesome designing minds at PaperStyle! Michael had a hand in conceptualizing or designing many of the invitations and cards from our new lines. One of his favorite lines to work on was Where the Wild Things Are, so it would make sense that his Team Pick is one of the first Wild Things designs we came out with:
We asked Michael what he loved most about this particular design. His response was pretty great:
"What I like about it is how simple it is, but at the same time, how well it communicates the theme of the book. I love the colors, the fonts and especially the sassy look on Max's face... I think most kids would relate to that feeling when having their own birthday party: that feeling of being the king...and going wild at least for one day in the year."
Well said, Michael. Well said.
Have a deep-seated love for Where the Wild Things Are? Be sure to check out the rest of the line, too!

Tuesday Team Pick {Andrea}
With Christmas quickly approaching (especially here at PaperStyle), it's no surprise that this week's Tuesday Team Pick would be Christmas-themed! This week's pick is from Andrea, who works in our Web Support department. As PaperStyle started conceptualizing our new lines of invitations featuring some of Christmas' most beloved characters, Andrea was stoked to be on board, especially when it came to working with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer:
"Rudolph is my most favorite Christmas character!!! When I was asked to help concept this property, I was so excited!! It was fun to create a photo card with my favorite line of the movie… 'I'm cute, I'm cute… She thinks I’m cute!'"
It is a pretty great line, isn't it? There are plenty of wonderful Rudolph designs to choose from, too. And if Rudolph isn't exactly your cup of tea, don't miss our other Christmas lines: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, Elf the Movie, Frosty the Snowman, and The Polar Express.
Happy Tuesday!

And the winner is...
Over the past quarter, we've been calling on our team of awesome designers to inspire us with all sorts of new designs. To spice things up a little, we decided to hold a "Best Design" competition. The designers were asked to create new designs in the following categories: Birth Announcements, Moving Announcements, Bridesmaids Luncheon and Bachelorette Party. Then, after all the designs had been submitted, we held a vote to see which design is best-liked amongst the PaperStyle team.
Last Wednesday, PaperStyle employees were asked to put their initials on a Post It and stick it to their favorite design. (I can personally attest to the difficulty of this decision. There were so many great options!)
| Summer fun! |

A big congrats to White Dog, and a big thank you to all the designers for the amazing invites! Great job, you guys!

Not Actually Wordless Wednesday
We have some bigs news around the PaperStyle headquarters! We've got a new guy on the team!
In honor of our newest recruit, Michael, we've obviously abandoned the "wordless" part of our Wednesdays (although we are going to keep it short and sweet). Michael is our new TypeStylist, and he's already proving he's got awesome chops. And look, he's so enthusiastic!
We look forward to seeing more of what Michael can do, and we'll keep you guys posted too.

Chalkboard Chic: Taking Up the Chalkboard Trend
So, the chalkboard design trend isn't exactly a new thing... because it's inherently vintage. There's something beautifully nostalgic about it. It allows so much room for creativity with font styles, sizes, and colors and it all winds up looking rustic and totally personalized.
Anyway, it's a trend we really love, so here are a few of our contributions:

One of the reasons we're loving this trend so much is because it's so easy to extend the idea beyond your invitations. If you've spent much time at all on Pinterest, then surely you've seen all the chalkboard paint DIYS. Or all the adorable framed chalkboard signage at all sorts of weddings and receptions. The possibilites are limitless: imagine using chalkboard paint to make table numbers, cake toppers, placecards, menus, signs for the back of the bride & groom's seats, the list goes on and on.
Here are some of our favorite examples!
